Operation: Squeaky Clean with Agile-Day 1 (By Samantha)

Operation: Squeaky Clean with Agile-Day 1 (By Samantha)

In my previous post, I mapped out a Sprint Board in order to clean my daughter, Zooey’s bedroom within a one week Sprint period. I am going to take this day by day on here so we can see how applying an Agile methodology toward tackling everyday tasks can be effective.

Today, I started on my first story: to remove and replace the bedding on Zooey’s beds, and I have reached my first minor impediment. I decided to use the same bedding on her beds, but to wash it first. It was due to my own personal preference, this was her newest set of bedding that matches the mermaid theme in her room, and being someone that wants to do it right the first time, I want the final result of her clean room to have it look the best it can. I decided to mitigate this with a simple adjustment to my own schedule. I took care of some of my outlying tasks today to make up for the delay for her bedroom, this way I have opened a bit more time tomorrow to make up for the time missed today. I know this would usually require something else to be moved on to the next sprint, but in this case, there is no next sprint, and my schedule was quite flexible.

I also made a scrum board today with the Miro software to keep track of my tasks. I color coded the sticky’s to a corresponding story. I am at least happy to say that despite the minor setback, I still have faith in my own determination to finish this task within the frame of time I had estimated.

I am also photographing the progress. However, I am saving them for a later post. I want to exemplify the statement that Agile is based on incremental delivery of a product. Stay tuned!
